On Tuesday November 4th, Hilary Fanning, SRO for the NHS England Data for R&D held a national event in London that brought together patients and public members who support the work of Secure Data Environments across England. Public members attended from Thames Valley and Surrey.
Patient and public contributions were recognised as a significant part of ensuring that access to NHS health data for research is secure, ethical, proportionate, transparent, and, importantly, benefits the public themselves.
This event provided an opportunity to celebrate our patient and public representatives, foster connections with peers across the Network, share learning and experiences, and explore the potential to build on engagement to further shape the future.
There will be a follow up event on 15th December 2025 at which the team plan to share the insights and key themes from the face-to-face event.
