Can you help make sure that our health and care data is used for planning and research in a trustworthy and transparent way?
Independent advisors in three fields needed for the Thames Valley & Surrey Secure Data Environment Services and data Access Review Committee (TVS SDE SARC)
What is a Secure Data Environment?
Information about patients is collected and used by the NHS to:
- Provide individual care.
- Plan health and care services.
- Carry out research into new care and treatment.
The NHS has established a network of SDEs, which securely store health and care data so that it can be used safely for planning and research. University or industry researchers can apply to become approved users to access data, the data does not leave the NHS. The data stored in an SDE has personal details removed, or replaced with a code, so that when the data is used, individuals cannot be identified.
In the Thames Valley and Surrey (TVS), we are working with patients and the public, alongside health and care staff to develop a local SDE covering Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey, Swindon and Milton Keynes.
- Are you interested in how patient data is used in planning & research?
- Do you have demonstrable experience of working on committees?
- Do you feel you can bring a range of perspectives from across TVS?
- Do you work in the area covered by the TVS SDE?
- Could you bring expert independent advice on:
-
- Ethics
-
- Information governance, or
-
- Research & development
