TVS SDE Programme Director Kerrie Woods recognised with international Women Leading IT Award

We are delighted to share that Kerrie Woods, Director of Research & Development Clinical Informatics at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH), has been recognised with a 2026 Info-Tech Women Leading IT Award.

The international award celebrates women whose leadership is driving innovation and transformation in technology. Kerrie Woods was recognised for her leadership and contribution across healthcare and life sciences, including her work supporting the secure use of NHS data for research, development, service planning and improvement.

A major part of this work has been the development of the Thames Valley and Surrey Secure Data Environment (TVS SDE). Led by Kerrie Woods and her team, TVS SDE provides a secure environment where approved researchers and NHS planners can use de-identified health data for research and service improvement, while ensuring the data remains under NHS control.

As of October 2026, TVS SDE brings together data from 10 NHS organisations across the region, covering more than 4.9 million people. More than 60 high-impact research projects have been approved or completed using the dataset.

Reflecting on the award, Kerrie Woods said:

“My work wouldn’t be possible without my brilliant team, who are testament to the excellence that exists in the NHS.”

Kerrie Woods was nominated by Dr Ben Attwood, Chief Digital and Information Officer at OUH, who described the recognition as “richly deserved” and highlighted her role in turning ambitious ideas around the safe and effective use of NHS data into services supporting research, innovation and better patient care.

The award comes alongside further recognition for Kerrie Woods, who has also been shortlisted for Role Model of the Year, Team Leader of the Year and Woman of the Year at the 2026 Women in Tech Excellence Awards.

Congratulations to Kerrie Woods on this fantastic and well-deserved achievement.
